Gujarat summit to hold special MSME convention for international commerce chambers

Over 80 national and international chambers of commerce will participate in a special MSME convention to be held during the forthcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. The two-day convention for the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) will be inaugurated on the second day of the summit that is being held from January 18 to 20 here, Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation vice-chairman and managing director D Thara said Thursday.

As many as 53 international and 28 national trade and commerce chambers have confirmed their participation, she said, adding one of the chambers is from Pakistan. Trade bodies from Canada, Dubai, Taiwan, Japan, the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and the Indo-US Business Council are also expected to attend.

She expressed confidence that the convention will create opportunities for international business, technology transfer and long-term business tie-ups for the MSME sector. "This event will also give us an opportunity to understand how other countries have developed industrial clusters, such as those by Taiwan for computer manufacturing and the apparel clusters established by Bangladesh," she said.
