CBI Charges Nine in Infant Trafficking and Sale Case

The CBI filed a chargesheet against nine individuals implicated in an infant trafficking and sales network. The accused used social media to connect with childless couples and sold infants, creating fake documents to deceive buyers.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against nine individuals accused in a case involving the trafficking, sale, and purchase of infants. According to agency officials, the chargesheet has been submitted to the competent court under sections 120B, 370(4)(5), and 420 of the IPC, as well as Section 81 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.

The court has acknowledged the charges against all accused. Out of the nine named, eight alleged traffickers were arrested earlier by the CBI and placed in judicial custody.

Initiated on April 5, the case involves various penal provisions of the IPC and the Juvenile Justice Act against a network of individuals. The CBI conducted searches at multiple locations in Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan, recovering incriminating evidence. Five infants have been rescued in the investigation so far.

The investigation found that the accused used social media advertisements to connect with childless couples, purchasing infants from economically disadvantaged parents. These infants were sold for approximately 4 to 6 lakhs each with fake documents, deceiving adopting couples by posing as biological parents.

Further investigation is ongoing. The public is reminded that these findings are based on the CBI's investigation, and the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a fair trial.
