Pune city police on Friday filed an extensive 900-page charge sheet in the 'Pune Porsche crash' case, according to officials. The document was submitted to the Pune district court, a senior police official confirmed.
The Pune crime branch unit registered a case against the parents of the accused minor and doctors from Sassoon Hospital, including two others, for allegedly conspiring to tamper with evidence and manipulating the blood sample. The incident occurred on May 19, when a Porsche car, allegedly driven by a minor under the influence, hit and killed two IT professionals in Pune's Kalyani Nagar area.
The case caused a nationwide uproar after the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) granted the accused minor bail on lenient terms, including writing a 300-word essay on road safety. The reaction led the Women and Child Development Department to form a panel investigating the JJB members' conduct.
In his bail conditions, the minor was required to detail the significance of responsible driving and the repercussions of reckless behavior. The minor driver had collided his Porsche with the two IT professionals on a bike, fatally injuring them on the night of May 19.
In a related incident earlier in the month, a woman was killed in Mumbai's Worli area when a luxury car crashed into the bike she was on with her husband, who also sustained injuries. Another disturbing road rage case emerged in Pune in July, where a 27-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by a car driver on Baner-Pashan Road, leaving her with severe injuries.
The victim alleged that the driver trailed her for 2 kilometers before attacking her, resulting in significant injuries and nosebleeds.
