Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, on Saturday, criticized Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, demanding an apology to Amit Shah for allegedly fabricating a false case. The Supreme Court’s exoneration of Shah, who was externed from Gujarat in 2010 for two years in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, prompted Goyal’s call for an apology.

At a press conference, Goyal lambasted Pawar, stating, 'Sharad Pawar was an integral part of the UPA government. The Supreme Court's ruling exposed the UPA-Congress-NCP coalition.' Goyal asserted that the charges against Amit Shah were unfounded and politically motivated, accusing Pawar and the then Gujarat CM Narendra Modi of aiming to disrupt their political futures.

Goyal reiterated his demand for an apology, remarking, 'It is clear that Sharad Pawar was part of a conspiracy against Amit Shah. He must apologize for his baseless allegations.' This exchange follows Amit Shah’s recent labeling of Pawar as the 'ringleader of corruption' in India, which Pawar countered by pointing to Shah’s own legal history.
