Record Pilgrims Flock to Kedarnath Dham Despite Heavy Rain

Despite continuous rain, Shri Kedarnath Dham witnessed a significant influx of devotees on the second Monday of the Shravan month. Thousands of pilgrims and local devotees performed the Jalabhishek and Dudhbhishek rituals dedicated to Lord Kedarnath. Special prayers and worship ceremonies were also held on this auspicious occasion.
Ajendra Ajay, President of the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), reported that over nineteen and a half lakh pilgrims have visited Shri Badrinath and Kedarnath Dham so far. Notably, a record eleven and a quarter lakh pilgrims have reached Shri Kedarnath Dham for darshan. Ajay advised pilgrims to stay updated with weather forecasts to ensure a smooth and safe journey, especially given the ongoing rain.
The Kanwar Yatra procession sees 'Kamwariyas' collecting river water and carrying it over hundreds of kilometers to offer at Lord Shiva's shrines. According to Hindu beliefs, the initial procession included Parshuram, a devotee of Shiva and an avatar of Lord Vishnu. The Shravan month is considered sacred among Hindus, who engage in worship, fasting, and pilgrimage dedicated to Lord Shiva.
On Wednesday, July 24, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Shri Kedarnath Dham. He offered prayers for the happiness, prosperity, and welfare of the state's people and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership for the Dham's reconstruction. During his visit, CM Dhami also interacted with devotees and sadhus from other states, receiving feedback on the Char Dham Yatra arrangements.
The Chief Minister inspected ongoing reconstruction work at Kedarnath Dham, issuing necessary guidelines to officials. He attributed the success of the reconstruction efforts to the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
