Maharashtra to Launch Senior Welfare Corporation for Elderly

The Maharashtra government, under Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, announced plans to establish a welfare corporation aimed at improving the quality of life for senior citizens. In a significant move to enhance the lives of senior citizens, the Maharashtra government will soon establish a new welfare corporation dedicated to their needs, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced on Monday.

This decision came post a meeting chaired by Shinde, which involved discussions with state government officials and representatives from various elderly welfare organizations.

Shinde emphasized the proactive measures required to cater to the burgeoning senior citizen population projected by 2047. He also mentioned plans to urge the Central Government to reinstate travel concessions on railways and supply essential equipment for senior citizens.
