Swavalamban Portal Revamped for Easier Disability Certification

The Swavalamban portal has been recently revamped to streamline the process for generating disability certificates and UDID cards. The Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, B L Verma, addressed technical issues and updates. State social welfare departments are now authorized to amend information when new Chief Medical Officers are appointed.

The Swavalamban portal has undergone significant revamping to facilitate the easier generation of disability certificates and UDID cards, according to the Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry's announcement on Tuesday.

Responding to a query in Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment B L Verma mentioned that during the revamping phase, certain technical issues were reported by the Maharashtra government. These issues have since been addressed by the department, with ongoing efforts to resolve any further issues on a priority basis.

Verma also confirmed in a written statement that changes to the Swavalamban portal include the addition of new Chief Medical Officers, empowering state social welfare departments to modify personal information in cases of new appointments. Updates are continuously made based on feedback from people with disabilities and other stakeholders.
