Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are en route to Wayanad to assess the aftermath of the recent landslides, which have resulted in 167 fatalities and hundreds more reported missing.

Two significant landslides, occurring in Mundakkai and Chooralmala on July 30, caused extensive damage. Emergency response operations are being ramped up, while political leaders discuss relief plans and mobilize financial assistance for the region.

Although the Gandhis' visit to Wayanad was initially planned for Wednesday, poor weather conditions disrupted their schedule. Rahul Gandhi assured the public via a post on X that they would visit as soon as possible and would continue monitoring the situation. Efforts by the Indian Army, including the construction of a Bailey bridge, aim to connect severely affected areas and speed up rescue missions.
