Nationalist Congress Party leader Anil Deshmukh has rejected the allegations made against him by dismissed Mumbai Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Waze. Deshmukh, addressing a press conference, said that Waze, with a "criminal background," cannot be believed. He further asserted that Waze is merely a pawn for Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

"5-6 days back, I had levelled allegations against Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, accusing him of attempting to jail then CM Uddhav Thackeray and Aaditya Thackeray three years ago. In response, this is a new tactic by Fadnavis who is now using Waze," Deshmukh stated. Highlighting a judgement by the Bombay High Court, Deshmukh emphasized that Waze, who faces multiple murder charges and remains jailed, is not a credible source.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut also commented on the situation, questioning Waze's credibility and viewing the allegations as a sign of BJP's fear of losing upcoming elections. "BJP has resorted to using an accused in the Antilia bomb scare to pressure Anil Deshmukh. This lowers the standard of Maharashtra politics," Raut noted.

Sachin Waze, involved in the Rs 100 crore extortion case and the 2021 Antilia bomb scare, claimed he has submitted evidence of alleged bribes involving Deshmukh to Fadnavis. Waze also voiced his readiness for a NARCO test to substantiate his allegations. The CBI had previously arrested Deshmukh and filed a corruption case against him for directing police to collect large sums from bar owners.
