Akhil Giri's Controversial Remarks Draw Political Heat

BJP leader Soumendu Adhikari criticized TMC's Akhil Giri for disrespectful remarks against a female forest officer, calling it a part of TMC's culture. In a video, Giri was seen threatening the officer. CPI(M) MP Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya demanded Giri be sacked and arrested for his actions.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Soumendu Adhikari has condemned Trinamool Congress leader Akhil Giri for making disrespectful comments directed at a female forest officer, describing such behavior as part of TMC's culture. 'This is not the first time. Akhil Giri has made objectionable comments about our President, Droupadi Murmu, as well,' said Adhikari in a statement to ANI on Sunday.

In a video posted on X by BJP West Bengal, Giri was observed issuing threats to an on-duty woman forest officer for removing illegal encroachments in forest areas. 'Will Mamata Banerjee dare to dismiss this minister and subject him to legal action for obstructing government workers and insulting women?' the BJP West Bengal account questioned online.

Meanwhile, CPI(M) Rajya Sabha MP Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya stated that Akhil Giri should have been sacked immediately rather than praised for resigning. 'What he has done is illegal and in violation of the law. He should have been arrested for committing a cognizable offense, especially as he prevented government employees from performing their duties and verbally abused them,' Bhattacharya asserted.

Giri, who resigned under party pressure, has refused to offer apologies to the officer he insulted. The incident continues to spark political turmoil and calls for legal action against the TMC leader.
