The Special Cell of the Delhi Police in Dwarka arrested two inter-state traffickers on Monday, resulting in the recovery of six country-made pistols and 12 live cartridges. The suspects have been identified as Ajrudeen alias Ajru (32) and Mohammad Rashid (28), both hailing from Punhana.
Acting on a tip-off, authorities learned that Rashid would be carrying illegal arms and ammunition to Shyam Vihar near the Dwarka Expressway. A raiding party was formed on July 25, laying a trap at the specified location. Upon arrival, Rashid was swiftly apprehended by the dedicated team.
One country-made pistol and two live cartridges were seized from Rashid. Interrogation revealed he had procured the arms from Ajrudeen the previous day and was to deliver them to an individual named Rohit in Jai Vihar Najafgarh. Rashid's confession led to immediate FIR registration by Police Superintendent Chawla and a subsequent investigation.
Raids in Nuh, Haryana, resulted in Ajrudeen's arrest on July 30. Police recovered five more country-made pistols, 10 live cartridges, and a stolen motorcycle used in the illegal firearms trade. Investigations disclosed that Ajrudeen, who had studied up to the 12th grade, entered the arms trade through his acquaintance Rohit in Najafgarh.
Further probes revealed Ajrudeen's broader criminal activities, including being arrested by Nuh Police for duping job seekers and by Rajasthan Police for weapon smuggling.
