Shimla Faces Torrential Rain with Orange Warning

The hill resort Shimla is currently grappling with heavy rainfall, accompanied by an orange rain warning from the Indian Meteorological Department for the coming two days.

The persistent downpour is significantly affecting daily life, posing challenges for both residents and visitors. The recent cloud burst and flash floods on August 1 have also impacted the districts of Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla.

Roop Lal, a resident, stated, "It's been raining continuously. We are facing many problems; for crops, it's been unusually wet, and in some parts, more rain is needed, making it tough to manage in such conditions." Despite the difficulties, some locals maintain a positive outlook. Ashutosh, a local student, mentioned that commuting has become challenging in the rain.

On the contrary, Vikey, another resident, expressed his joy, saying, "I am feeling good to be in the rain, I am feeling good to be here, I am enjoying it." His enthusiasm underscores the resilience and adaptability of Shimla's youth. As the rain continues to lash Shimla and other parts of Himachal Pradesh, authorities have advised residents and tourists to take necessary precautions and stay updated on weather advisories. (ANI)
