Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Harbhajan Singh has called on Union Health Minister JP Nadda to transform BBMB Hospital into a Post Graduate Institute (PGI) or All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Singh, the former cricketer, is now leveraging his political platform to push for enhanced healthcare in Punjab.

In a conversation with ANI, Singh revealed his concerns about the deteriorating condition of the 100-bed BBMB Hospital in Talwara. 'The hospital's condition worsens daily. I request it be upgraded to a PGI Satellite or AIIMS hospital,' he stated. Singh emphasized the facility's critical role, given the 2500 quarters built for employees nearby.

Singh, who met with Nadda on Thursday, highlighted the challenges faced by Punjab residents, many of whom travel long distances for medical care. 'People often rush to Delhi or Chandigarh for treatment, risking their lives en route,' he said, advocating for closer facilities. Singh stressed the need for state-of-the-art equipment and skilled doctors, hoping the project will also serve neighboring Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. 'This matter is connected with humanity,' he added, noting Nadda's assurance of governmental action.
