A mild earthquake with a magnitude of 2.6 struck Bidar in Karnataka on Saturday evening, as reported by the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC). The epicenter was identified 3.5 kilometers southwest of Sitalgera GP in Humnabad Taluk, Bidar district.
According to the Seismic Intensity map, the earthquake's intensity was low, with tremors potentially felt up to a maximum radial distance of 30-40 kilometers from the epicenter. Classified in Seismic Zone II, the region faces a very low risk of damage from earthquakes. The Tectonic map also confirmed the absence of any structural discontinuities at the epicenter, KSNDMC stated.
The monitoring center assured the community that there was no need for panic, as the earthquake's low intensity posed no destructive threat, it added. (ANI)
