Saree Marathon in Chennai Promotes Menstrual Hygiene Awareness

In Besant Nagar, Chennai, a vibrant 'Saree Marathon' saw enthusiastic participation from women of all ages on Sunday. The 2-kilometer run, organized by a private NGO, aimed to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene.

Participants adorned in traditional sarees vied for top honors, with the first prize of Rs 6000, the second prize of Rs 3000, and the third prize of Rs 2000 awarded to the fastest runners. Every participant received certificates as a mark of their involvement.

In addition to the marathon, sanitary pads were distributed to everyone present, reinforcing the event's primary message of promoting menstrual hygiene. (ANI)
