Major Reshuffle: Over 60 Senior Income Tax Officers Transferred
The government has transferred more than 60 senior-most Income Tax officers, including principal chief commissioners and directors general of investigation. The Department of Revenue issued two orders recently, detailing the promotions, transfers, and additional charges assigned to various officers across several regions in the country.
In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the government has transferred over 60 senior Income Tax officers, including principal chief commissioners and directors general of investigation, according to recent official orders.
The Department of Revenue, under the Finance Ministry, released two orders on August 9, announcing the promotions and transfers. The first order involved the promotion of 40 officers to the rank of chief commissioner of Income Tax (CCIT) or equivalent, and the transfer of 20 other CCIT/DGIT officers.
An additional 22 CCIT/DGIT-rank officers received extra responsibilities, while nine DGIT (investigation) rank officers were posted to key regions, such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, Jaipur, and more. Two officers received additional duties in Bhopal and Kochi. The second order specified the postings and additional charges for six Principal CCIT/Principal DGIT rank officers, covering areas like exemptions, international taxation, and training directorates.
