5.5 Tonnes of Illegal PDS Rice Seized in Nalgonda Operation

Vigilance officials seized 5.5 tonnes of Public Distribution System rice in Chittapuram village, Nalgonda. The rice, illegally stored by D. Mahendar, was valued at Rs 1,10,000. Authorities have initiated criminal proceedings.

In a swift operation on Monday, officials from the Vigilance and Enforcement (V&E) unit in Nalgonda seized 5.5 tonnes of Public Distribution System (PDS) rice at Chittapuram village, located on the outskirts of Valigonda Mandal in Yadadri Bhongir District. Acting on credible intelligence, V&E personnel conducted the raid in the early hours and recovered 92 illegal bags of rice.

Upon investigation, it was disclosed that the PDS rice was unlawfully stored by D. Mahendar, a resident of Pacharlabodu Thanda in Bhongir Mandal. The confiscated rice, estimated to be worth around Rs 1,10,000, has been handed over to the relevant authorities to register a case under Section 6A and begin criminal proceedings against the accused.

Further investigations into the matter are currently underway, according to an ANI report.
