A special laboratory for soil testing will also be established to certify the produce, he added. Highlighting the rising cancer cases, Sukhu urged farmers to adopt chemical-free farming methods.
The Chief Minister also directed the rationalization of the agriculture department and assured that vacant posts would be filled. He announced that 70% of the population involved in agriculture would benefit from enhanced income opportunities. Further, he committed to remodelling traditional kuhals and setting up cold stores and silos as per district-specific crop needs.
