The Delhi Tis Hazari court on Tuesday issued a non-bailable warrant against singer Sapna Chaudhary for her continued non-appearance in a cheating case. The Economic Offence Wing of the Delhi Police had charge-sheeted Chaudhary following a complaint filed by Pawan Chawla, with an FIR registered in 2021.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Rashmi Gupta issued the warrant after Chaudhary failed to appear in court, stating, 'A last day of hearing exemption was sought on behalf of the accused. Even today, the accused has failed to appear before the court despite calls made to her.'
Sapna Chaudhary's appearance is now scheduled for October 25, 2024, as further proceedings continue. 'Let NBW be issued against the accused returnable for the next day of hearing,' ordered the court.
During a video conference hearing, Advocate Randhir Lal Sharma and complainant Pawan Chawla were present. It is alleged that Chaudhary obtained money under various pretexts and for business activities, subsequently misappropriating the funds for personal use along with a family member.
On May 28, 2024, the court took cognizance of the offenses under IPC Section 420 (Cheating) and Section 406 (Criminal Breach of Trust). (ANI)
