A senior Russian commander stated on Thursday that Ukrainian forces do not fully control the town of Sudzha, located in Russia's Kursk region.

Major General Apti Alaudinov, commander of Chechnya's Akhmat special forces, was reported by state news agency RIA reiterating this claim. Contrarily, Ukraine has asserted its control over Sudzha.

The town features vital gas transfer and measuring stations, functioning as the only entry point for Russian natural gas into the Ukrainian gas transmission system, indispensable for facilitating gas transport to Europe.
