On Thursday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma distributed 881 land pattas at a ceremony held at the DC office premises in Amingaon, Kamrup district. The land pattas cover 369 bighas, 2 kathas, and 10 lechas of land and benefit residents from Barpalaha, Gog, Dakshin Mandakata, and Bhomolahati villages in the Barbangshar Mouza within the North Guwahati Revenue Circle.

Addressing the audience, Chief Minister Sarma emphasized that the absence of land pattas presents challenges such as inadequate compensation during land acquisitions and difficulties in securing bank loans, urging residents to resolve any land value issues with the District Commissioner. He highlighted that the Kamrup District Administration issued the land pattas to guarantee that residents receive compensation if their land is acquired for the Guwahati Ring Road project. The government also plans to issue land pattas to more residents.

Sarma noted that many Namghars in rural Assam lack land pattas, excluding them from government benefits. Mission Basundhara 3.0, launching in October, aims to issue land pattas to Namghars, schools, institutions, and convert shared leases into private ones. Additionally, the mission will address issues of incomplete paperwork and land disputes.

The Chief Minister announced new legislation to restrict land sales to communities outside the indigenous population in the undivided Goalpara district. The program was attended by Environment and Forests Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, BJP Assam Pradesh President and MLA Bhabesh Kalita, MPs Bhubaneswar Kalita, Dilip Saikia, and Bijuli Kalita Medhi, MLA Diganta Kalita, District Commissioner Keerthi Jalli, and other dignitaries.
