Haryana Assembly Elections Announced: A Pivotal Moment for INLD

INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala expressed his gratitude to the Election Commission on Friday for announcing the date of the Haryana Assembly Elections, asserting that the people of Haryana have suffered during the BJP's 10-year rule. Chautala claimed that a lot of "venom was spewed" under the guise of caste.

Set for October 1, the elections will cover 90 assembly constituencies in a single phase, with votes counted on October 4. "We are thankful to ECI for giving relief to the people of Haryana one month in advance. People were most troubled during the 10-year rule of the BJP. Corruption has increased here. A lot of venom was spewed in the name of caste," Chautala said. He also noted instances where the BJP tried to isolate community groups, including by inciting riots in Mewat last year.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar confirmed the election schedule, noting that Haryana has 2.01 crore voters, including 1.06 crore males, 0.95 crore females, 4.52 lakh first-time voters, and 40.95 lakh young voters. Nominations are due by September 12, with scrutiny on September 13 and the withdrawal deadline set for September 16.

Following the 2019 elections, the BJP formed a coalition government with JJP, although this alliance ended earlier this year. The 2024 elections are anticipated to be a four-way contest involving BJP, Congress, JJP, and AAP.
