In a significant drug bust, Mumbai Customs Zone-III confiscated 482.66 grams of cocaine, estimated to be worth Rs 4.83 crore, and arrested a Kenyan passenger. The drugs were reportedly concealed in the body cavity of the suspect, said Mumbai Customs officials.
Authorities noted that the white powdery substance, believed to be cocaine, falls under the regulations of the NDPS Act, 1985. This seizure came shortly after officers from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) intercepted two passengers at Mumbai airport, recovering 4,525 grams of gold dust in wax form valued at Rs 3.33 crore.
"Based on specific intelligence, DRI MZU officers stopped two passengers traveling from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai on Flight No EY 206 after they had cleared the Customs green channel," stated a DRI spokesperson. During a personal search, four packets containing gold dust in wax form were found hidden in a specially tailored jacket pocket, leading to the arrest of both passengers under the Customs Act, 1962.
