Nationwide Outcry Following Trainee Doctor's Murder in Kolkata

In light of increasing crime against women, Congress leader Pawan Khera has called for a thorough investigation following National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data. Khera's statement comes amidst nationwide protests against the alleged rape and murder of a female trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata on August 9.

Khera highlighted other severe incidents, including the sexual assault of a female doctor in Mumbai and a woman on a bus in Dehradun. "We hope that all the accused will be arrested very soon," he stated. The doctor’s parents have accused the police and hospital authorities of mishandling the case and have raised serious concerns over the hospital’s response and the state’s administration.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case following widespread protests and an order from the Calcutta High Court. Security has been tightened around RG Kar Medical College, with the imposition of Section 163 to maintain law and order.
