Uddhav Thackeray Calls for Strict Action After Sexual Assault Outrage

Protests erupted at Badlapur Railway Station over the alleged sexual assault of two young girls. Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray urged for strict action against the perpetrators and critiqued the current Maharashtra government for delaying the Shakti Bill.

In response to the public outcry following the alleged sexual assault of two young girls at a school in Badlapur, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has invoked the Shakti Bill. Hundreds of protesters blocked trains at the Badlapur Railway Station, demanding justice for the victims.

Former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray called for stringent actions against those responsible. Thackeray lamented that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government was on the verge of passing the 'Shakti Bill' before his administration was overthrown by the current Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde. Emphasizing the gravity of the situation, Thackeray stated, 'Not only in Badlapur, but such incidents should also not happen anywhere in the country.'

Maharashtra Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar confirmed the arrest of one accused and assured maximum punishment. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced a high-level investigation and fast-tracking of the case. The violent protests saw residents pelting stones resulting in police intervention. An SIT led by senior IPS officer Arti Singh has been formed to probe the incident.
