In a pioneering move, Indian Railways has successfully tested the Vista Dome train on the historic Kalka-Shimla route, potentially setting the stage for a tourism boom in the region. Local travel businesses and taxi drivers in Shimla are notably optimistic about the economic uplift the train could bring.

The Vista Dome train, featuring a seven-coach configuration with panoramic windows, offers stunning views of the hills, making it a prime attraction for tourists. Shimla's taxi drivers, who stand to benefit from the influx of tourists, are advocating for the introduction of night trains to further enhance tourist appeal.

Naseeb Chand, a taxi driver at Shimla Railway Station, commented, "This is a game-changer for us. The Vista Dome train is a significant draw, and we expect it to boost our business. We urge Indian Railways to start special night trains to attract even more tourists and enhance our economy." The Kalka-Shimla railway line, operational since 1903 and designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2008, continues to captivate tourists with its scenic journey through the hills.
