Man Arrested with 2002 Grams of Marijuana at Coimbatore Airport

The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) at Coimbatore Airport apprehended a man on Tuesday, seizing 2002 grams of suspected marijuana valued at Rs 1.01 crore, said Customs officials.
According to a post on X by Trichy Customs, AIU officers intercepted the Indian national, who arrived at Coimbatore on August 19, 2024, from Bangkok via Singapore on Scoot flight TR-540.
The contraband, a pale green substance suspected to be marijuana, was hidden in Corn Flakes packets within the passenger's check-in luggage. The individual has been arrested under the NDPS Act, 1985. Further investigation is ongoing.
In a related incident, the AIU at Trichy Airport had previously arrested a woman and confiscated 2,291 grams of gold worth Rs 1.53 crore.
