BJP Announces Election In-Charges for J&K Assembly Polls

BJP appoints Ram Madhav and G Kishan Reddy as election in-charges for Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. Voting is scheduled for September and October. NC launches manifesto with key promises including restoration of Article 370.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has named former General Secretary Ram Madhav and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy as the election in-charges for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, announced BJP National President JP Nadda on Tuesday.

The Election Commission released the election schedule on August 16, with polling set in three phases: September 18, 25, and October 1. The notification for the first phase, covering 24 seats, was issued, beginning the nomination process. Candidates have until August 27 to file nominations, with scrutiny on August 28 and withdrawal permissible until August 30. In total, 90 assembly constituencies will be up for election.

The National Conference (NC) presented its manifesto on Monday, promising 12 guarantees, including the restoration of Article 370, 35-A, and statehood. Party Vice President Omar Abdullah highlighted these pledges. BJP's Kavinder Gupta criticized the NC's manifesto, questioning the feasibility of their promises and praising the security and unity post-abrogation of Article 370.
