The unauthorized construction of shops within a temple in Karol Bagh has been halted following intervention by the Delhi High Court. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) informed the court that the construction has ceased.
Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav, after reviewing the submissions and the status report from MCD, stated that no further directives are required. The MCD has taken necessary steps to prevent any further unauthorized construction at the site. 'The respondent-Corporation is bound by the stand taken in the status report,' Kaurav stated in the court order dated August 21.
The status report by MCD disclosed that the property, located at Shiv Mandir Block No. 6, Dev Nagar, Karol Bagh, was inspected by the area junior engineer along with the petitioner and his counsel on February 8, 2024. The construction of kiosks without shutters was discovered and subsequently stopped. The Mandir Prabandhak was asked to remove the illegal construction. The site was re-inspected on February 16, 2024, and no further construction was observed.
