The Gaud Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) Seva Mandal at King's Circle, Mumbai, has achieved a record-breaking insurance policy valued at Rs 400.58 crore for its upcoming five-day Ganesh festival from September 7 to 11. The comprehensive coverage entails personal accident insurance, an all-risk policy for gold and silver ornaments, a fire and peril policy, and public liability insurance.

In comparison, the GSB Seva Mandal had insured its festivities for Rs 316.40 crore in 2022 and Rs 360.40 crore in 2023. Speaking about the extensive insurance coverage this year, GSB Seva Mandal Chairman Amit Dinesh Pai said, "Like every year, we will be celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi with great enthusiasm. A total of Rs 400.58 crore insurance has been procured. Last year it was around Rs 300.60 crore. A private agency supports us with security, deploying 875 personnel working in three shifts. Over 100 CCTV cameras, along with facial recognition cameras and metal detector gates, have been installed for enhanced security."

Addressing environmental concerns, Pai highlighted the trust's commitment to reducing pollution and promoting an eco-friendly Ganpati celebration. "We are focusing on the environment and aiming for net-zero carbon emissions. All our waste is biodegradable, and this year we're reducing the use of flex banners, opting instead for LED hoardings," he added.

Ganesh Chaturthi, celebrating the birth of Lord Ganesha, is one of Hinduism's most revered festivals, celebrated for ten days. According to tradition, Lord Ganesha, accompanied by Goddess Parvati, descends to Earth during this period.
