Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Nishant Rane has raised concerns over the two FIRs filed against him for his alleged 'provocative' remarks in Ahmednagar. Rane questioned the legality and motives behind the police action, asking, 'Why is the Hindu community being threatened?' The cases were based on speeches made in Srirampur and Topkhana, Ahmednagar.
Speaking to ANI on Monday, Rane defended his statements, asserting that his remarks were aimed at empowering the Hindu community. 'The Constitution and police should do their job. Why is the Hindu community being threatened?' Rane commented, adding that his intent was to combat threatening language from opposing groups. He cited multiple YouTube channels that purportedly incite hate against Hindus.
Rane stated his support for Mahant Ramgiri Maharaj, who has been receiving death threats. 'Those supporting Maharaj are getting death threats. During a recent rally in Pune, anti-Hindu slogans were raised. Why are we questioned for defending our community?' Rane remarked. The tension arose after derogatory remarks from Ramgiri Maharaj about Islam and Prophet Mohammed, which caused friction between Hindu and Muslim communities.
