Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann assured the youth of job security and criticized the previous government for neglecting the state's young population during an appointment letter distribution ceremony in Chandigarh on Saturday. A total of 293 people received their appointment letters for various departments at the event.
While congratulating the new appointees, the Chief Minister emphasized that the government is working towards creating even bigger opportunities. "Congratulations to you and your family. Nothing is impossible in this world. In the past, the youth had given up hope, but now their hopes have been fulfilled. Our government is preparing even bigger chairs for you," said the CM.
He further condemned the former state administration for failing to consider the needs of young people and for misappropriating tax funds. "The government's job is to provide relief to the people, not to harass them. Earlier, government leaders lived in their palaces and were detached from the ground reality. The tax money did not reach the government; instead, it went to the leaders' houses," he added. The CM urged the new appointees to uphold integrity and avoid bribery in their roles.
"The system was flawed for 75 years, but we will fix it gradually, even if it takes time. Many of you come from humble backgrounds, so I appeal to you: in your new positions, do not take any bribes," the CM said. He also praised the government's efforts to provide jobs and save citizens toll tax.
"So far, we have provided 44,973 jobs, closed 16 toll plazas, saving 61 lakh in toll tax daily for Punjabis. Additionally, all roads have been repaired, and we are offering all necessary facilities to the public," Mann stated. According to the government, out of the 293 appointment letters distributed, 263 were for the health department, 9 for technical education, and 21 for the water supply department.
