Tata Power has initiated the manufacturing of solar cells at India's most extensive single-location facility in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, marking a significant boost in domestic solar cell and module production.

TP Solar Ltd, a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd, announced the commercial commencement of its 2GW solar cell line. This facility is set to become the country's largest solar cell and module manufacturing plant.

Following earlier successful module production, Tata Power plans to scale up production to 4GW within the next few months, reinforcing its capacity to meet increasing demand for high-quality, domestically produced solar components. The company has invested nearly Rs 4,300 crore in this endeavor.
