In a series of highly successful operations, the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and other security forces have recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition across various districts in Manipur. The operations, conducted in early September 2024, underscore the effectiveness of these joint efforts.
Acting on specific intelligence, joint search and area sanitization operations were carried out in locations such as Liklai, Mashemjang, and P Geljang among others in Churachandpur District. Security forces recovered items including pistols, mortars, rifles, and other warlike stores. The recovered items have been handed over to Manipur Police, and a bunker was destroyed in Molphai Tampak on September 7, 2024.
Additional operations in Kangpokpi and Imphal East on September 5, led to the discovery of 11 weapons, while a joint search in Loiching Ridge on September 7 yielded a country-made drone, sniper rifles, and grenades. Bishnupur and Thoubal districts also saw successful recoveries of a modified AK-47 rifle and single-barrel shotguns respectively. These actions by Assam Rifles aim to restore regional peace and stability, demonstrating the continuous peacekeeping efforts of Indian security forces in Manipur.
