In light of escalating law and order issues in Manipur's capital, the District Magistrates of Imphal West and Imphal East have implemented a total curfew, effective from 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 10. The decision was disclosed in orders issued Monday, which reversed a previous relaxation from 5 am to 10 pm.
One of these orders, citing an increase in local tensions, declared, "The relaxation order, effective from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM on September 10, 2024, is now revoked. A complete curfew will be imposed in Imphal East district from 11:00 AM on September 10 onwards, until further notice." Essential service personnel are exempt from this mandate.
Separately, a joint operation involving the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and other security agencies resulted in the recovery of significant arms and ammunition in various Manipur districts during early September. Conducted with specific intelligence, these operations underscore the collaborative effectiveness of the forces involved. (ANI)
