Ministers Rush to Lakhpat Amid Suspected Viral Fever Deaths

Kachchh District, Gujarat - Following concerns over multiple deaths in Lakhpat village linked to suspected viral fever, state ministers Rushikesh Patel and Praful Pansheriya conducted an urgent visit to assess the situation. Kachchh Collector Amit Arora confirmed, 'They took stock of the situation in Lakhpat village and directed precautionary steps. Discussions with viral experts from Ahmedabad were also held. Further information will be available pending reports from NIB Pune.'

Minister Praful Pansheriya elaborated on the state's response, stating that preventive measures are being enacted on a war footing. 'Samples from fever victims have been sent to NIB Pune. In collaboration with Health Minister Rushikesh Patel, we obtained preliminary information from Kutch District officials and issued necessary guidance for disease prevention,' Pansheriya noted in a post on X.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has taken notice of the situation. Preventive measures have been implemented by health teams, who have collected samples and administered medication in affected areas. Kachchh Collector Amit Arora reported that over 22 health teams are conducting screenings, with four extra doctors assigned to Lakhpat and Abdasa. Initial tests showed no clustering in the deaths but detected Dengue in one case and Malaria in two cases among 26 samples. The assessment of the suspected viral fever's extent continues.
