India's Technological Leap: Achievements in Modi's First 100 Days

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia applauded the Modi-led BJP government’s milestone of developing India's own 4G technology in its initial 100 days. He also highlighted substantial reductions in communication costs, investment in the northeastern states, and upcoming cultural events showcasing regional heritage.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Monday praised the accomplishments of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's BJP government in its first 100 days, particularly India's advancement in developing its own 4G technology, making it one of only six countries globally to achieve this feat. Scindia was speaking at a press conference focused on the Ministry of Communication’s achievements.

Scindia explained, “The Prime Minister's goal was to produce a 4G stack for BSNL using both domestic and foreign technology, establishing India as a technology equipment producer. In the past hundred days, 7,258 towers have been erected and 9,560 villages have gained full communication services, showing significant progress in infrastructure.”

Highlighting connectivity rates, Scindia noted, “The vision of 'connectivity for all, accessibility to all, and affordability to all' has led to a 94% reduction in mobile connectivity rates and a 95% drop in internet costs. This underscores a broader penetration and proliferation of these services.”

Scindia also discussed the “6G Vision” initiative launched in March 2023, emphasizing innovation and research with significant advances, including processing 111 project proposals for funding and establishing 81 out of 100 planned 5G labs across the country.

On the developmental front, Scindia noted, “In 2014, Rs 24,819 crore was allocated to the northeastern states. This fiscal year, the investment is Rs 1,02,000 crore, a fourfold increase. Education saw 850 new schools, with healthcare receiving Rs 32,000 crore. Additionally, 18 cancer centres have been approved for the northeast, of which seven are operational.”

Scindia concluded by announcing the Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav to be held in December, showcasing the handicrafts, handlooms, agricultural products, and tourism of the eight northeastern states, targeting both national and international audiences.
