Opposition Attacks Maharashtra Government Over Badlapur Encounter Controversy

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) opposition has fiercely criticized the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government following the encounter of a sexual assault accused near Thane. Key opposition figures, including NCP MP Supriya Sule and Shiv Sena's Priyanka Chaturvedi, have questioned the legality and motives behind the encounter.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) opposition has launched a scathing attack on the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government following the encounter of the Badlapur sexual assault accused near Thane. Prominent figures, including NCP MP Supriya Sule, have expressed serious concerns about the legality and timing of the incident, calling it an 'absolute breakdown of law enforcement and the justice system.'

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi echoed similar sentiments, criticizing the government’s 'incompetence' and questioning the motives behind the encounter. She referred to the incident as a 'story written by the state government' and criticized the administration for failing to apprehend the co-accused, who are allegedly on the run.

Other opposition leaders, including Congress’s Prithviraj Chavan and Vijay Wadettiwar, have demanded a judicial probe into the matter. State Congress chief Nana Patole questioned the intentions behind the encounter, suggesting it might be a cover-up to protect higher-ups. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has defended the police actions, stating that the accused had fired at police officers, necessitating a response in self-defense.
