Ayodhya priests on Monday supported the Supreme Court's statement on keeping religion out of politics while demanding strict action against the alleged use of adulterated ghee in the preparation of laddus served as prasadam at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala.
Priest Bhuneshwar Shashtri said, "God should be kept away from politics. In this context, some people with contaminated minds are involved." Shashtri condemned the use of adulterated ghee in prasadam, urging the SC to investigate the matter to prevent future offenses against Hindu sentiments.
Acharya Chitranshu Maharaj added, "Lord Rama is not a political subject but one of devotion. The discovery of fish oil and other animal oils in the Laddu Prasadam is very unfortunate. We demand strict actions against those responsible, including the trustees and the agency providing ghee."
Earlier, the Supreme Court questioned Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu for making public allegations without conclusive proof of adulterated ghee in laddus. The court criticized the need for making such statements when a probe was already ordered, emphasizing the importance of protecting devotees' sentiments.
The court was hearing petitions seeking an investigation into the allegations made by the TDP-led Andhra Pradesh government. The bench noted there was no prima facie evidence showing the use of contaminated ghee, questioning the necessity of publicizing the issue prematurely.
