Pune Airport organized a tree plantation drive on Tuesday, situated in front of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue at the New Integrated Terminal Building (NITB). An official release stated that the event was part of a nationwide environmental initiative marking the 80th anniversary of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The event was attended by prominent figures such as Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Murlidhar Mohol. The plantation drive was themed 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,' a nationwide campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to honor mothers and promote environmental conservation.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has conducted similar drives across various airports in India, planting 80,000 saplings in total to commemorate ICAO's landmark anniversary. Key stakeholders, including officials from AAI, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), various airlines, and other airport agencies, actively participated in the Pune Airport event.
This initiative highlights AAI's dedication to fostering a sustainable environment and aligns with the broader mission to reduce the aviation industry's carbon footprint in India. (ANI)
