Congress MP Kishori Lal Sharma expressed his outrage on Friday over the shocking murder of a family of four in Amethi, demanding the harshest punishment for those responsible. Sharma, who has been in contact with the grieving family, criticized the police's delayed response to a previously filed FIR. "If the police had taken it seriously, this tragedy might have been avoided," Sharma remarked during an interview.
He also urged the Uttar Pradesh government to offer financial compensation to the victims' family. Sharma reported that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi communicated with the bereaved family and plans to visit them soon. "Our aim is for the police to diligently investigate the matter, and the government should provide compensation," Sharma stated.
The incident unfolded on Thursday evening in Oharwa Bhawani, where assailants entered the home of a 35-year-old school teacher, Sunil Kumar, and fatally shot him along with his wife and two young daughters. Superintendent Anup Singh mentioned ongoing investigations, noting no signs of forced entry, and linked the case to a complaint by the deceased's wife against a suspect, Chandan Verma.
Post-mortem reports confirmed gunshot wounds in all victims, with bullets recovered from both parents. Reports have been handed over to authorities. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condemned the act and promised stringent action against the perpetrators, reassuring the public that the attackers "will not be spared."
