Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Four Children During Durga Puja

A devastating road accident during Durga Puja celebrations in Sonakhuli, Agomoni has claimed the lives of four children. The driver, linked to the tragic incident, has been detained. This incident underscores the severe consequences of reckless driving on local roads.

In an unfortunate turn of events, four children lost their lives during Durga Puja festivities due to a road accident in the Sonakhuli area under Agomoni police jurisdiction. The tragedy unfolded as a speeding vehicle, reportedly traveling from Coochbehar to Dhubri, struck the unsuspecting children alongside National Highway 17, according to eyewitness accounts.

The victims have been identified as Maryam Khatun, aged 10, Zubair Hussain, aged 7, Mehdi Hassan, aged 5, and an infant, Abu Rihan, aged just 40 days. Law enforcement officials have apprehended the driver, Bishal Agarwal, a resident of Dhubri, charging him in connection with the incident. His vehicle has also been seized.

In a particularly heart-wrenching development, the youngest victim succumbed to injuries while being transported to Dhubri Medical College. This grievous incident amplifies the urgent need for heightened road safety measures and vigilance during public festivities. (ANI)
