Jammu and Kashmir's Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, made his inaugural visit to the Nowshera constituency after assuming office. Addressing the gathering, Choudhary pledged to prioritize development in the region, expressing gratitude to voters for their support in the recent assembly elections.
In a significant political development, the Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet unanimously passed a resolution advocating for the restoration of the Union Territory's statehood. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will spearhead discussions with the Prime Minister and government officials in New Delhi to advance this agenda.
Opposition voices, however, like PDP's Waheed Parra, criticized the resolution, arguing it undermines the promise to reinstate Article 370. The political landscape in J&K is witnessing changes as the NC-Congress alliance celebrated their success, having secured a total of 48 seats during the recent electoral process.
