Tragedy at IOCL Refinery: Blast Leads to Fatal Fire in Vadodara

A tragic incident unfolded at the Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) refinery in Vadodara, Gujarat, as a 32-year-old worker lost his life in a fire caused by a blast in a benzene storage tank. The blaze was reported at around 3:30 PM.
Ensuring safety remained paramount, the IOCL activated its emergency response, aiming to contain the fire. Firefighting operations are currently ongoing, with additional measures like activating adjacent water sprinkler systems to safeguard against the spread of the flames.
Vadodara Police Commissioner Narasimha Komar assured that operations within the refinery are under control. Workers present during the shift were evacuated, and those arriving for subsequent shifts were turned back for safety reasons. A few workers sustained minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital.
