On Thursday, Congress MPs staged a protest in the Parliament House complex, highlighting pressing concerns over the protection of communities in Kerala confronting wildlife threats. Among the demonstrators were Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress MP for Wayanad, who demanded immediate government intervention.
Priyanka Gandhi expressed her alarm, noting that seven individuals have fallen victim to wildlife attacks in Wayanad. She emphasized the urgent need for both central and state government funds to address the issue, which she intended to bring to the attention of her parliamentary colleagues.
Simultaneously, Congress MP Manickam Tagore filed a motion to adjourn the House's business, focusing on the Khavda Renewable Energy Project in Gujarat. He raised concerns about the relaxation of national security protocols for a project so close to the India's border with Pakistan, questioning the transparency and motives behind the government's decision-making process, especially regarding the involvement of the Adani Group.
