Gujarat's Suraksha Setu Society: A Decade of Public Safety Leadership

In a significant move to bolster public safety, the Gujarat government has committed an annual budget of Rs 20-30 crore to the Suraksha Setu Society, according to a recent release.
Established in 2012 under the leadership of then Chief Minister Narendra Modi, the society has been instrumental in pioneering community policing, establishing Gujarat as a leader in public safety initiatives. It actively engages in diverse activities, ranging from women's safety to student counselling and senior citizen support.
The Suraksha Setu Society's dedication to citizen welfare is evident through its wide-ranging programs, which include training nearly 98,852 women in self-defence and transitioning over 478 women to lawful livelihoods. The initiative also educated over 1,62,000 on road safety, contributing to a safer state.
