Himachal Government Sets Record Support Price for Natural Farming

The Himachal government, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has set a benchmark by establishing the highest support price for wheat and maize grown through natural farming in India. With wheat priced at Rs 40 per kg and maize at Rs 30 per kg, the initiative supports 1,508 farmers with direct benefit transfers.

The Himachal Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has made significant strides in promoting sustainable agriculture by setting India's highest support price for wheat and maize under natural farming practices.

In a groundbreaking move, wheat is being purchased at Rs 40 per kg, while maize is being bought at Rs 30 per kg. This initiative has benefited 1,508 farmers from whom 398 metric tonnes of naturally grown maize have been procured. An amount of Rs 1.19 crore has been seamlessly transferred to their bank accounts through direct benefit transfer systems.

To further promote natural produce, the state has introduced products like Him Bhog-Him Makki Atta in the market, offering farmers a reliable income by ensuring the procurement of up to 20 quintals of maize per family engaged in natural farming.
