In a significant move towards women's empowerment, the Jammu and Kashmir Bank Rural Self Employment Training Institutes Society in Rajouri has launched a six-day General Entrepreneurship Development Program. The initiative is aimed at fostering entrepreneurship among women by introducing aspiring entrepreneurs to industry experts and government schemes, promoting both social and economic growth.
Nazma Sheikh from Hub for Women Empowerment emphasized the role of awareness in accessing government schemes, like Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana and State marriage assistance. Serving as a conduit between authorities and citizens, Sheikh's organization seeks to educate women across various platforms, including schools and Anganwadi centers, about these empowering programs.
According to RSETI Director Sunil Sharma, the ongoing program, which currently includes 35 participants, is part of a broader rural employment generation effort. Scheduled as a six-day training event, the initiative demonstrates a committed effort to equip marginalized communities with the tools required for successful entrepreneurship. Similar programs have yielded significant outcomes in other areas, such as Kulgam.
