Government Extends PM-AASHA Scheme to Boost Farmers’ Prosperity

The Centre has extended the PM-AASHA Scheme through the 15th Finance Commission cycle up to 2025-26 to enhance procurement operations, stabilize prices, and support farmers. The scheme covers the procurement of pulses, oilseeds, and copra, aiming at achieving self-sufficiency in pulses by directly purchasing from pre-registered farmers.

The Centre has officially announced the continuation of the integrated Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA) scheme, which will be extended through the 15th Finance Commission cycle until 2025-26.

This extension aims to ensure effective procurement operations, crucial for offering remunerative prices to farmers and controlling the price volatility of essential commodities.

The scheme is particularly focused on the procurement under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) of specific crops, involving the central nodal agencies purchasing directly from pre-registered farmers at the minimum support price (MSP).
