A tragic incident at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) has led to a diplomatic stir following the death of a Nepali student in her hostel room. The Nepali government and KIIT are coordinating efforts to return the student's body to Nepal, ensuring a proper investigation into the case.

The student's death on February 16 has sparked widespread protests by Nepali students who allege harassment and are calling for justice. Demonstrations have intensified after a fellow student was arrested in connection with the incident, prompting demands for independent student bodies for their protection and rights.

Nepali officials, including President Rekam GC, and Nepali Ambassador to India, Shankar P Sharma, are actively engaged with KIIT. The university has suspended several staff members pending investigations, issued public apologies, and set up support measures for the affected students to return to campus safely.
